Sabine van Dartel is a lecturer working in patristics and liturgical theology. Her master’s thesis, The Nature of Indwelling Evil in the Fifty Spiritual Homilies of Pseudo-Macarius, developed the concept of demonosis as the antithesis of theosis in the writings of Pseudo-Macarius and the broader early spiritual tradition; a condensed version was presented at the Oxford Patristics Conference in 2024. Alongside her academic work, she attends St. Luke’s Orthodox Church in Sylvania and has served in parish Sunday School, catechetical programs, and community outreach ministry. Her research is particularly concerned with the relationship between liturgical rituals and spiritual formation in the early church.
